Welcome to the PTO

Welcome back to all returning families and a huge WELCOME to all new families. We are glad you are here! I hope everyone had a wonderful summer and is ready for great year. This is my 12th year as a Roberts parent and I am excited to be serving as PTO president.

PTO stands for “Parent/Teacher Organization.” Our group truly is a collaboration of Roberts parents, administration, teachers and staff, dedicated to providing support to our school. The work done through the PTO, of which you are all a part, enhances the learning experience of every student at the school.

We at Roberts are lucky to have wonderful teachers and staff dedicated to guiding our children through their elementary school experience. One of Roberts’ great strengths is our teachers. Having great teachers is a privilege and a partnership; the PTO is an important piece of that partnership.

So, how can you make a difference and get involved? Here are a few easy ways:

Volunteer – For the PTO to be effective and truly representative of the school, everyone’s participation is essential. Many parents feel that they cannot participate in the PTO because they cannot come to meetings or be at school on a regular basis. Please don’t assume that there isn’t a role for you – there is! We want everyone to feel that they are part of the Roberts Community. Whether you have 30 minutes a day or 30 minutes a month, your ideas, your time, and your talents are truly needed. We can match your time constraints and interests to the right committee. Please click the “Volunteer” button on the home page of the PTO website to see both classroom and school-wide volunteer opportunities. Please feel free to contact me at with any questions.

“Culture of Giving” Campaign – Support your PTO by making a contribution to the annual fundraising campaign. Whether it be $10 or $500 or $5000, all donations are welcome. We want all families to participate! Your annual contribution is fully tax deductible and goes straight into supporting the education of every child in the school. Your donation brings enrichment programing into our classrooms, funds technology improvements throughout the school, supports teacher training, maintains our grounds, and so much more! Watch for more information in the coming weeks. The campaign runs August 29 – September 16.

Attend a PTO Meeting – There are so many fun ways to get involved. We hope that you will attend the first PTO meeting of the year on Friday, September 9th. Meetings start at 8:10 and finish by 9:10 am and are held in the Roberts Café. Meetings are generally the first Friday of every month (except this year’s first meeting). If you can’t attend, check the PTO website for meeting minutes.

On behalf of the Roberts PTO, I would like to thank you in advance for
your support. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me. Have a wonderful school year and I look forward to seeing you around the school.
