Roberts International Garden: Fall Clean Up Social

SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 15 – 9:00AM – 11:00AM

Help prepare the 3rd, 4th and 5th-grade vegetable beds for September planting. We will be weeding, clipping, clearing leaves. Coffee and donuts will be served.

Learn more about the Roberts International Garden, Planting, and Harvesting program. Each year classrooms grow items like green beans, radishes, and tomatoes!

Get your kids interested in where their food comes from and all the resources needed to grow food. Bring your gardening gear: water bottle, gloves, pruning clippers, etc.

Spirit Week: Community Service Events

Volunteer as a Family to Support Our School.

Saturday, Sept 14 from 5-7pm: “Clean up the Park” Social.
This is a family event for kids to learn to care for their playground. Treat yourself to dinner form Moon Rooster food truck.

Saturday, Sept 15 from 9-11am: Fall Garden Clean-up and Social

Throughout the year, we will be celebrating Roberts with Spirit Weeks—community-building events designed to bring families together in support of the school.

Mendocino Farms Gives Back to Roberts on 9/11

As part of Spirit Week, Mendocino Farms sandwich market (5510 Morningside, Ste 120) will donate 50% of all purchases made on Wednesday 9/11 from 5-8pm to anyone presenting this flyer: see flyer for additional details.

Have a Lunch Date with Your Kindergartner or 1st Grader!

By becoming a lunchroom volunteer you will have the opportunity to assist children during their lunch hour: 10:15 to 11:15am.

One volunteer is needed every school day. Must be VIPS approved.

The HISD policy is that volunteers and visitors must be VIPS (Volunteers in Public Schools) cleared via a background check to attend any school event other than lunch or parent conferences. To apply, click here.

In order to assist your child’s teacher and make the most of the school year, each classroom needs volunteers to fill several roles including:

Tuesday Folder, Garden Liaison, Auction Coordinator, Fun Run Coordinator, and Carnival Coordinator 

The first position of the new school year to fill is ROOM PARENT. Click here to express interest in any of the Roberts volunteer opportunities.

And… if you’d like to do any volunteering at Roberts, be sure to register for VIPS as soon as possible!
